My first anniversary

By

One year ago, I started Robin Mohr & Associates LLC! Literally, I sent my first invoice on January 10, 2025. I am forever grateful to Melinda Wenner Bradley and the board of Faith & Play Stories, Inc. for being my first client. It was a big enough project to help me get systems in place: not just to develop my content and the consulting process, but also to write up my first contract. To send them an invoice meant I had to design a logo. I set up my own website and incorporated the business. I learned a lot. And it was fun.

Here?s my first client testimonial:

“Our organization knew that we needed support from a consultant to create a sustainable plan for fundraising and outreach. We knew that Robin would bring a depth of experience and understanding of Quaker ministry. Her support has exceeded what we anticipated, and has been a gift to Faith & Play Stories. Robin took the time to get to know the history and present condition of our work, and also examined how it is part of a wider ‘ecosystem’ of Friends organizations. The plan she created for us is both creative and innovative, but alongside this excellence is the gift of her encouragement. Robin brings so much experience and knowledge, but she also values relationships and care in working with others. Her energy and ability to view possibilities beyond our ‘line of sight’ has given renewed purpose to how we approach development, and the future.”

A couple months later, two different national Quaker groups asked me to help them edit their grant proposals. In March I started meeting up with Dwight Dunston to talk business?running a small company, getting braver around money, and valuing our time appropriately. In early summer, I completed my certificate in strategy at Wharton and a local Quaker congregation asked me to help them with their strategic planning.

In August, I signed up for business coaching for women entrepreneurs and that, dear reader, has made all the difference. I got clarity on my sales process, accountability for approaching new prospects, and examples of how other women consultants do all of this.

Over the course of the first year, I’ve had a dozen clients with several renewals. That is, for me, a signpost that I am making a difference and providing good value for the money.

I’m celebrating my anniversary by investing in real bookkeeping software and a refresh of my website (coming soon). And I am launching a series of posts about my work. But most importantly, I am celebrating how far I have come.

The convergence of strategy and fundraising is needed for all nonprofit organizations. The Robin Mohr & Associates? mission statement is ?We help nonprofits live up to their vision statements.? If you?re ready, set up a 15 minute call with me.

Do you know the 12 types of sustained collaboration?

Most Quaker meetings are already doing several of them — they just don’t know it yet. This worksheet helps you identify which types your meeting or church is already practicing, and where there’s room to go deeper.
